Raw Milk Herd Share Dairy

Welcome to Our Raw Milk Herd Share Program

At Rose n’ Thistle Farm, we believe in providing families with the purest, most nourishing milk straight from our Jerseys to your table. Our herd share program allows you to participate directly in the care and stewardship of our cows while enjoying the benefits of fresh, raw milk.

Our Jerseys are pasture-raised with love and milked once daily to ensure the highest quality and richness. Raw milk contains natural enzymes, beneficial bacteria, and nutrients that many modern processing methods destroy. We handle every step with prayerful care, trusting God to bless our efforts with good health and abundance.

When you join our herd share, you become part of our farm family. You’ll receive regular updates on your cow’s care and milk production, plus access to fresh milk that supports your family’s wellness naturally and wholesomely. Whether you’re new to raw milk or have long cherished its benefits, we welcome you to experience farm-fresh nourishment grown in faith and gratitude.

Notice: All our cows are currently dry and enjoying a much need vacation. We hope to once again be able to provide raw milk to our community late Winter/Spring of 2026. But don’t hesitate to apply to our herd share program today, as our spots fill up quickly!

How Does a Herd Share Work?

Is Raw Milk Legal in Indiana? How Does a Herd Share Work?

Yes—raw milk is legal in Indiana through a herd share agreement. This means we don’t sell raw milk directly to the public. Instead, you buy a share of our dairy herd, and in return, you’re entitled to a portion of what your cow produces. Think of it as owning part of the cow—you’re not buying milk, you’re receiving your share as an owner.

This model allows families like ours to legally and ethically provide raw milk to families like yours, while remaining compliant with state law.

    What Is a Herd Share?

A herd share is a simple agreement between you (the shareholder) and us (the farmers). You make a one-time purchase to buy into our Jersey cow herd, and then pay a monthly boarding fee to help cover the costs of care, feed, and milking. In return, you receive fresh, raw milk each week from your share of the herd.

It’s a way to reconnect with your food, support ethical small farming, and nourish your family with real, living milk—just as God designed it.

What Do I Get With My Share?

    Each full share includes:

    • 1 gallon of fresh, raw milk per week

    • Your milk packaged in glass half-gallon jars

    • Weekly pick-up from our farm store in Southern Indiana

    • Occasional updates on our cows, farm, and family life

    • Peace of mind knowing your milk comes from happy, pasture-raised cows, milked once daily with care and cleanliness

We believe your milk should be more than just a beverage—it should be a blessing. That’s why we treat our animals with respect and our shareholders like family.

    How Do I Join?

Joining is simple! Here's how it works:

    1. Fill out our herd share agreement – We’ll send it to you after a quick chat to make sure it’s a good fit.

    2. Pay your one-time buy-in – This officially makes you a part-owner in the herd.

    3. Pay your first monthly boarding fee – This covers care, feed, and milking.

    4. Pick up your milk weekly – Bring your jar back each week and swap it for a fresh one!

If you’re local and ready to commit to farm-fresh nourishment, we’d love to have you.

    What Does It Cost?

We keep our pricing simple and transparent:

    • $35 one-time share buy-in (non-refundable, makes you a legal part-owner of the herd)

    • $40/month boarding fee per share (1 gallon/week)

    • $20 refundable jar deposit (for our reusable glass jars)

You’re welcome to purchase multiple shares if your family needs more than one gallon per week.

When and Where Do I Get My Milk?

Milk is available for weekly pick-up at our farm, and other local locations. We’ll send out reminders and keep you posted if pickup hours ever change. Please return your clean glass jars each week to keep the system running smoothly.

We currently do not offer delivery, but we’re happy to help you coordinate pickup with another local family if needed.

    Our Raw Milk Products.

    • Beautiful Golden Butter

We churn our butter the old-fashioned way—by hand or small batch, using only cream from our own Jersey cows. It’s rich, golden, and full of deep flavor, with nothing added but a pinch of salt (or none at all for unsalted). Spread it, bake with it, or melt it over vegetables—our butter is a true expression of real, honest food from a farm rooted in care.

    • Fresh Raw Milk

Our raw milk comes from healthy, pasture-raised Jersey cows and is full of rich flavor, natural enzymes, and wholesome nutrients. Because it’s never pasteurized or homogenized, it retains all the God-designed goodness—like beneficial bacteria, healthy fats, and bioavailable vitamins. We milk once daily and handle every jar with care, providing you with the freshest, most nourishing milk possible.

    • Probiotic Rich Yogurt

Our small-batch raw milk yogurt is cultured low and slow to preserve all the natural enzymes and probiotics. The result? A smooth, creamy, mildly tangy yogurt that's as nourishing as it is delicious. Perfect for breakfast bowls, smoothies, or snacking by the spoonful, our yogurt is a farm-fresh way to support gut health and enjoy wholesome simplicity.

    • Raw Heavy Cream

Our golden Jersey cream is thick, luscious, and gently skimmed from the top of our raw milk. Whether you’re stirring it into coffee, whipping it for desserts, or making your own butter, it’s a luxurious taste of what real food should be. Naturally sweet and full of healthy fats, our cream is a staple in every farmhouse kitchen.
