We bottle fresh milk every morning and restock the fridge daily.

That's why we operate our farm fridge on the honor system.
Simply stop by whenever it's convenient, grab what you need, and pay using the cash box or Venmo before you leave.
It's simple, convenient, and allows us to make fresh milk available every day without needing someone at the farm store all day long.
Pricing
Half Gallon Milk
$6 per half gallon
Glass Jar Deposit
We bottle our milk in reusable glass jars.
Your first purchase includes a $2 refundable jar deposit, making your total:
$8 for your first half gallon
After that, simply bring your clean jar back when you pick up more milk.
We'll exchange it for a freshly filled jar, and your refill is just:
$6 per half gallon
If you already have one of our jars (or another compatible clean glass jar to exchange), the jar deposit is waived.

Returning your jars helps us reduce waste and keep our prices affordable.
If you're able to return the milk labels and rubber bands as well, we always appreciate it! While not required, they're one more way we can reuse supplies and reduce waste.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the milk labeled "Pet Food"?
Indiana law allows farms like ours to sell raw milk directly to consumers when it is labeled and sold as pet food. While the labeling is required by the state, the milk itself is the exact same fresh raw milk we provide through our herd share program.
Where does the milk come from?
Every bottle comes from our small herd of Jersey cows here at Rose n' Thistle Farm. Jerseys are well known for producing exceptionally rich milk with beautiful cream content and incredible flavor.
What if the fridge is empty?
While we restock every morning, occasionally we sell out before the day is over.
If the fridge is empty, we invite you to check back the following morning. Feel free to send me a text before heading this way to make sure we still have milk in stock 1(812)653-3430.
How fresh is the milk?
Very fresh!
We bottle milk daily and restock the fridge every morning, so you're getting milk that's as fresh as possible.
How long does raw milk keep?
When handled properly and kept refrigerated, our fresh raw milk typically stays fresh for 10–14 days or longer. Many of our customers find that the flavor actually improves after a few days as the milk continues to naturally culture.
To help your milk stay fresh as long as possible, keep it refrigerated, avoid leaving it out for extended periods, and always use a clean jar and clean utensils when serving.
Do I have to become a herd share member?
No.
Our self-serve milk fridge allows anyone to stop by and purchase milk during our open hours without joining the herd share.
Do I need to bring my jar back?
Yes, if you'd like to avoid paying another jar deposit.
Simply bring your clean jar back at your next visit, and we'll exchange it for a freshly filled one.
